The government is starting to take a hardline against people who have not lodged their overdue tax returns and BAS’s. In January we saw a number of $550 fines issued to people for non lodgement of overdue returns.
The ATO have further advised us today that over the next couple of months they will be issuing fines for businesses and self managed superfunds for non lodgement. Plenty of warnings have been given in the past about non lodgement so it is now Fine Time.
If you have overdue tax returns or BAS’s then now is the time to get them done and lodged.
