If you’re going to try your hand at being a tax accountant/tax lawyer this year and prepare and lodge your own tax return using the tax office E-Tax software then you have until 31 October to get it done. Leave it until after that date and you risk late lodgement fines and interest etc. We don’t recommend preparing your own return however (as we’ve discussed earlier) due to the ‘one click audit’ philosophy, but if you have sadomasochistic leanings then go for it (invasive reaming by a federal employee and crippling penalties/interest may appeal to some).
Lodge by 31 October – if you can’t do it then make sure you book in with us before that date so we can get you some lodgement concessions.
